Project 529 has been providing cycling security since 2013 to reduce bike theft and promote cycle-friendly communities. Bike theft affects approximately 2 million riders every year and many stolen bikes are sold on the black market. Project 529 gives you the tools to keep your bike safe via their community watch infrastructure with over 400 participating law enforcement agencies, universities, bike clubs, bike shops and hundreds of 529 users worldwide supporting the 529 community.

2. REGISTER YOUR BIKE - IT'S FREE!

Using your smartphone or computer, create an account with 529 Garage to quickly capture all of the important information about your bike. Add your name and phone number (optional), then check the "share my information" box so that law enforcement can contact you about your bike... even if it hasn't been reported stolen! To access this information on the go, download the free 529 Garage smartphone app.

3. SHIELD YOUR BIKE

Tamper and weather resistant 529 shields posses a unique ID code, serving as added protection for your bike. Not only does it deter potential bike thieves, it is also registered with your bike in the 529 Garage to assist in the identification and return of your stolen bike. In the event of a theft, if a law enforcement officer, an unknowing buyer or another member of the 529 community finds a shield, they'll be able to find your bike in the registry and return it to you safely.
