Matching Funds: Thanks to Kingston Community Credit Union who will match up $5k in donations for this project.
Project snapshot: Cycle Kingston is seeking support for Bicycle Valet Kingston, which provides valet bicycle parking to residents who cycle to events. With your help, Cycle Kingston will purchase portable fencing required for the parking compound, branded materials to improve visibility at events, including directional signage and vests for staff and volunteers. Funding would also be put towards the purchase of re-usable, weather-resistant bike-check tags and promotions. 
How this project will reduce GHG emissions: By providing safe and secure destination bicycle parking at events and festivals – and increasing awareness of bicycle parking– Cycle Kingston will encourage and empower more people to leave their cars at home and pedal to their destination. Having more people choose a bicycle over a traditional vehicle will help avoid greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Encourage active transportation (and healthy living) by offering a secure parking option for cyclists. 
  • Bicycle Valet Kingston would work with ReStart Employment Services and other community organizations to provide paid work experience to individuals who may face barriers to entering the workforce or cannot secure traditional full-time employment.

About Bicycle Valet Kingston: Bicycle Valet Kingston is a non-profit service provided by Cycle Kingston that employs youth and others to provide a valuable, safe, and secure bike parking service for festivals and other events.
